Working out how many sheets you need

Start by measuring the total roof area you need to cover, in metres, length by width. Divide this by the coverage width of a single sheet to work out how many sheets run across the roof, then check the sheet length against your rafter span to confirm one sheet covers the full length.

For example, a 6m wide by 4m long pergola roof using a 1220mm wide flat polycarbonate sheet would need roughly five sheets to cover the width, each cut to 4m in length.

Always order slightly more than the exact measurement to allow for cutting waste and expansion gaps at the joiner. Get in touch with our team to discuss your final rafter spacing, so we can confirm it allows correctly for our aluminium glazing bar.

Frequently Asked Questions

Pricing depends on the product, thickness, and sheet size. ClearVue Polycarbonate ranges from $698.00 to $1,223.00 incl. GST per sheet. Zenolex Polycarbonate ranges from $89.00 to $1,169.00 incl. GST per sheet, with pricing starting lower since it's available in much thinner gauges for non-roofing applications.

Flat polycarbonate is a rigid, high-impact plastic sheet with a smooth, glass-like appearance. It's lightweight, highly impact resistant, and UV resistant, and it's used both for roofing and for a wider range of glazing and industrial applications.

ClearVue is purpose-built for roofing, with a flat sheet profile designed for pergolas, carports, canopies, and outdoor living areas, backed by a 15-year full replacement warranty. Zenolex is a broader-purpose polycarbonate with a wider thickness range, starting from 1mm, and is used for roofing as well as skylights, security glazing, sound barriers, machine guards, and signage, backed by a 10-year warranty.

ClearVue is available in 8mm only. Zenolex is available in a much wider range: 1mm, 1.5mm, 2mm, 3mm, 4.5mm, 6mm, and 9.5mm, reflecting its use across both roofing and non-roofing applications.

ClearVue comes in 736x4000mm and 736x6000mm sheets. Zenolex comes in 3050x2050mm, 2440x1220mm, and 2440x1830mm sheets.

ClearVue is available in Clear, Diffused, Solar Control Grey, and Blue Breeze. Zenolex is a clear, transparent sheet.

No. Zenolex is also used for skylights, security glazing, sound barriers, machine guards, and signage. It's a genuinely multi-purpose polycarbonate rather than a roofing-specific product like ClearVue.

ClearVue Polycarbonate requires a minimum roof pitch of 5°, or 88mm rise per metre, the same minimum pitch as our profiled polycarbonate range.

Flat polycarbonate sheet joins onto existing rafters using a two-piece aluminium glazing bar, suitable for timber and aluminium box section rafters.

Yes. ClearVue offers 99.9% UV protection. Zenolex has UV protection on both sides of the sheet and holds its clarity even after years of sun and weather exposure.

Clean with warm water and a soft sponge. Avoid water blasting or harsh cleaning chemicals, since these can break down the protective UV layer. Keep sheets undercover and dry before installation.
